Mid Century 9ct Rose Gold Seven-Stone Opal Half Hoop Ring, Size Q
An elegant mid century 9ct rose gold seven-stone opal half hoop ring, dating to 1961, featuring a beautifully graduated arrangement of seven round cabochon opals.
The design centres on a prominent milky-white opal, flanked by four smaller opals arranged in pairs and two larger outer stones. Each displays delicate flashes of iridescent green, orange, blue, pink and violet, characteristic of opal’s captivating play-of-colour.
The individually claw-set stones are framed by ornate scrolling goldwork, creating a richly textured setting inspired by late Victorian jewellery. The warm rose gold complements the opals’ soft, luminous colouring, while the decorative openwork gallery adds depth and character.
Although dating to the mid-20th century, the ring draws inspiration from the ornate opal-set jewellery of the late Victorian period. Its romantic styling and distinctive seven-stone arrangement make it a particularly attractive example of vintage British jewellery.
